So that's what it was. I could sense there was something amiss. I think their hearts are in it though, they are just weary. On a simp death march for 3 years straight takes it out of you.

But they are carried on by a sort of a forlorn sort of hope, they keep trodding through the quagmire because they know that if they stopped to examine their desperate situation, despair would set in and then it would truly be ogre.

Poor fellas. Perhaps in my self centered mess I made it all about myself. I had been too hard on them. They deserved better. I was young, and ignorant, though; I would never let anyone hold me accountable for the things I had done to them.
