That is what happened. The media lied and said that "President Trump sez to drink bleach for covid-19", when in fact, he said no such thing.
President Trump was giving daily televised pandemic updates. Then, they stopped televising him giving pandemic updates, after polls showed that people were feeling less fear over covid, and beginning to favor Trump more, by the day.
