Currently, the weather is absolutely hellish. It's like we are getting a trial from hell to repent.
I live in an extremely populated city so it actually debuff the natural status of the desert. Usually, it's extremely hot with intense sun rays with near no humidity- hence the long thobes and flowy clothing, it's so we don't get skin cancer while walking around. In the barren desert, the night is extremely cold but there's absolutely never any snow, ever. It's a completely foreign and fantastical concept that I only know about from cartoons and media. Some areas around the Mediterranean get very light snow, but it's not comparable to the real thing.
About the populated city thing... the heat should wear off by sunset, but here it just traps the heat so it's perpetually 40°c with no airflow or oxygen from trees for the entirety of summer, which, does take up the vast majority of the year. Only December, January and February are properly cold in the 5-15°c range. Rain is also rare... It rains more around the Mediterranean, but otherwise it's nonexistent during summer and rare during the winter.
TLDR: Experience 0°c and under weather is a privilege you were blessed with. God, I wish. I love the winter and cold and I dream to see a freezing white landscape...
