I agree. We could've even heard mention of Kaido's son before, when the calamities were mentioned, and Yamato could've been a part of the adventure from the start of Wano, it would've even served as a great reveal a bit later that SHE is the son of Kaido, at which point everyone else would become suspicious of her, but Luffy being the great judge of character would trust her, so they'd go along with his decision, begrudgingly at first, but Yamato would earn their trust. Hell, it'd even serve as another reveal, that Yamato knew Ace, but didn't know Luffy was his brother because Ace simply didn't tell his name, or something like that. You know, gradually earn a spot as a proper character with ties that are slightly more well-written and less sudden. Not a blast of ties and themes dropped on us, but layers laid upon each other with time in between.
