Mary and Joseph were levites. The tribe of Levi not the tribe of Judah (jews)

11 tribes of Israel were given lands. the Levites are the priests, and they were given temples in ALL the lands of Israel including Judea. While Mary, Joseph, and Jesus lived in Judea, they were not Judean by blood, they were always Levites.

Judah was given the land of Canaan but only if he succeeded in killing all the Canaanites. Judah failed and instead bowed to the Cananite god.

The other tribes were successful in defeating the pezerites, jebusites, hittites, etc. as God had instructed them to, it was only Judah who turned from God. which led to the curse on all Judahites, their enslavement, and banishment from the holy land.
