I don't know this feel.
I've only had backups the last 5 years. It still surprises me that in my 20+ years of computing, I have never had a drive fail or die that was "mission critical" i.e. had irreplaceable data
I could count on one hand the drives that have failed me, and one was an ssd.
I supposed treating mechanical drives as if they were incredibly brittle glass goes a long way, or I'm just lucky.
