He was sentenced in 1925 "for defamation against the slanderer Bejot (pour diffamation contre le cauffeur Bejot)." The sentence was confirmed on 10 June 1927 and he locked himself in the building of his newspaper. Demonstrators appeared and expelled the police.
On 13 June, according to the news:

On June 13th, at 6:00 a.m., 250 police officers, two companies of the Republican Guard, and fire engines equipped with ladders, hoses, and asphyxiating gas launchers arrived on the scene. The entire surrounding area was cleared, and at 7:00 a.m., the police prefect arrived, accompanied by the fire brigade colonel and senior officials from the prefecture.
