yo, i looked all over central america for land and costa rica is played out. its just as expensive as the west and the locals hate expats. nicaragua is cheap as fuck but sketchy govt, good people though. Honduras is a hard pass, total shithole. el salvador is great and will probably be the next costa rica, but its a police state, i was searched multiple times just walking around by soldiers. guatemala is really good, stable govt, nice people but more expensive than el salvador or nicaragua. belize is the crown jewel of the british empire but to live somewhere safe will cost you. i spent 6 months traveling around looking for land and then covid hit and ruined it the day before i was supposed to go check out columbia. ama
