Anon, we ALL need to be better people, but how many of us really know what a better person looks like? How many of us have this romanticized vision of what a "good man" is?
But what I've learned is that the more you strive to be whatever your idea of a good person is, the harder it is to achieve, and the frustration at your perceived failure to improve causes a great deal of turmoil within you.
Being a good person isn't something that is achieved, but something that is realized. It isn't something you can grasp, but something that appears, like the negative space within shapes. Like the triangle in this image: it isn't clearly defined, but we're able to perceive it when the other shapes around it become visible.

The concept of "better person" or "good man" is realized by making visible the shapes of our selves which define the concept.
