You'd think the tensile strength of whale muscles would also grant them some kind of insane durability vs piercing or at least cutting, but they croak to even hand-thrown harpoons. Their flesh doesn't seem radically harder than that of a pig. How can they function, built from such a weak material? Does distributed tension carry this completely?
