Even if it did happen it wouldn't be much different than the current status quo in regards to sovereignty. Though tying the economy to a rising star would be wiser than doubling down on a coming disaster.

My ideal vision for Canada is one of self reliance and independence. Leaving NATO entering bilateral agreements with the US and Russia. Canada will defend America's north but will not invite itself to be attacked by being in NATO, and if double crossed will invite American adversaries in. The military will abandon being a conventional force as any potential invader will bulldoze such a force. Instead the military become drone and missile heavy, with the revival and expansion of the early 1900s plans to cripple the US and any potentially captured Canadian city with sabotage, and the 1960s system of bunker scattered across the counter to act as resupply and organization points for a guerrilla force. Nuclear weapons would be a dream within a dream. Investing in infrastructure, infant industry, and state capitalism, and enacting policies aimed at making it easier for Canadians to work and have families (e.g. national daycare).
