no one believes it's "okay to sin."
some people (me, baptist) hold to a view that salvation isn't in jeopardy due to sinning since the justification that came from Christ's once for all atoning work on the cross is irrevocable, but we still ought to abstain from sin out of love for God. sanctification (the Holy Spirit working in us to conform us Christ's sinless image by convicting us, etc) begins at justification.
some protestants believe what i wrote above, but that some sins will make you an apostate and you can lose your salvation.
catholics have this thing where you're either in a state of grace or spiritually dead based on whether or not you've committed a mortal since you haven't obtained absolution for.
orthodox soteriology is pretty nebulous compared to really cut and dry flowchartmakeable ones.
