What bothers me about this type of rhetoric is that it's exactly what the Zionists want so they can more easily argue that criticism of Israel is a form of antisemitism, because they're trying to conflate opinions about a specific country with hatred for the religion associated with it.
As an atheist, I see indifference to their struggle for recognition and respect of their religion as just another aspect of the marketplace of ideals. A skinhead stomping his feet shouting about "gassing the kikes" is no different to edgy teenagers burning crucifixes in front of Catholic churches. It's insults against an ideal, and to dictate what others say with regard to said ideals is nothing short of incompatible with the liberal free speech principles we've come to hold dear.
Religion is fundamentally a matter of belief and ideology, and as a strong believer in the concept of free speech, the concerningly high pedestal on which faith is held up on only emboldens extremists to say these extreme things.
I want to see Netanyahu and the IDF military leaders held to the same standard that the men on trial at Nuremburg were held to, in addition to Vladamir Putin as well as the other HAMAS military leaders.
Not for their ideals, but for the heinous atrocities against innocent civilians, among other things.
I'm staunchly against the death penalty, but I'm willing to humor an exception for members of state who abuse their power against the people, be they their own or otherwise.
