PUZIK IS BACK
"They were written off and are being sent to be zeroed out" — wounded soldiers who had received state awards, some on crutches, in casts, or with metal plates in their heads, were sent to storm the front in the Siverskyi direction.
At least 14 soldiers from the Chelyabinsk region who were being prepared for discharge from the army due to their injuries were instead sent to assault positions near Novoselivka, where active offensive operations are currently underway. Relatives of four of the soldiers told ASTRA about this.
Alexander Krug’s right arm doesn’t function after his injury. According to his wife Olga, he spent several weeks in a Chelyabinsk hospital, after which he was sent back to the "SMO" zone — into a reserve battalion, supposedly to await a medical commission and eventual discharge due to illness. By that time, Krug had already received a state award and a veteran’s certificate. His comrade Yevgeny Sergeyev also cannot use his right hand, his wife told ASTRA: "He can’t even hold a cigarette with it."
Almaz Ziyazov has a titanium plate in his head following a head injury. He suffers from fainting spells and vision problems. Doctors diagnosed him with post-traumatic encephalopathy — a neurodegenerative disease caused by brain trauma.
Sergey Shneidmiller — a recipient of the Medal "For Courage" — has a ruptured radial nerve in his right arm. He had been prescribed treatment and rehabilitation. According to his wife Nadezhda, he was scheduled for surgery at a hospital in the city of Brianka on August 20.
However, on August 2, Alexander, Almaz, Sergey, Yevgeny, and about a dozen other soldiers were suddenly "transferred" to an assault unit, issued body armor and helmets, and taken to the front line. The soldiers claim they were deemed "fit" for combat by the head of the medical unit of the 90th Division, Yevgeny Puziyenko. The men last made contact yesterday.
