Apparently women and men in ostwind world are just born at a ratio of 4:1 or thereabouts, if I remember correctly.
Something like that seems like it would result in a lot of changes to how society operates (most obviously regarding relationships), but as far as I'm aware ostwind never really explored that in his worldbuilding and probably just wanted an excuse to draw more cute girls, for which I can't really blame him.
