Han Seung-soo is a South Korean politician and diplomat. From 2008 to 2009, he was the prime minister of South Korea under President Lee Myung-bak. He was also South Korea's Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Finance, Chief of Staff to the President Kim Young-sam, South Korean Ambassador to the United States, and Minister of Trade and Industry. He was the President of the 56th Session of the General Assembly of the United Nations, the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon's Special Envoy on Climate Change, and a Member of the UN Secretary-General's High-Level Panel for Global Sustainability. He is an international consultant to the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies, the Shanghai Roundtable Group. He has attended World Economic Forum meetings. He is also on the board of directors for the Club of Madrid.

Han Seung-soo is a descendant of the Cheongju Han clan, a Korean royal and political family during the Joseon dynasty. The clan provided the largest number of generals during the Joseon era. The clan produced six queens, five princesses consort, three royal concubines, 315 scholars, 12 Sangshin, 14 Gongshin, and 1 Daejejak throughout the Joseon period. Consort Kanghuizhuangshuli, the wife of the Chinese Yongle Emperor and her sister Lady Gongshen, the wife of the Xuande Emperor, were also members of this plan.

Today, many descendants of the clan are prominent in South Korean politics. Han Sung-joo, the South Korean Minister of Foreign Affairs and South Korean Ambassador to the United States, was a member of this clan. He was also a member of the Trilateral Commission.
