I know that feel Paddie, it's really fucking pure evil being driven by money and greed. Single, lonely people spend more money, and don't plan for the future.
I believe it's the Enemy behind all this, trying to cause more and more human suffering and drive people away from love and community. We're all stuck in this mass hallucination, and it might be imaginary, but if you try to point that out to others, they just think you're crazy and if you try to provide an example and live differently, you just get taken advantage of, because that's what people have been trained to do by the system.
On the bright side, more and more people seem to be waking up to the unsustainability of this and seeking things like community, but there are also so many compromised communities (ex: LGBTQ movement) that are "easy" and "safe" to join; but you end up working for the forces of division instead of actually pushing for unity.
