Well, while Khajiits are described to be related to felines from the start, it appears in the first two games, in Arena especially, the connection supposed to be more legendary, not so oblivious. It's not even Morrowind who changed it. Much earlier in TES:Redguard, that came out just two years after Daggerfall, Khajits are presented as regular cat people. Can't say if they appear in Battlespire, for sure they aren't a playable race.
