Back when you started this little insurgency essentially all decisions were first made by prior agreement hashed out between the LT and his NCOs and then the rebel council was informed or rubber-stamped said decisions with the League of Dis seal of approval. These days though less and less of the decisions made in the Company briefing translates into consensus in the war council. The senior Company officers are being treated more as advisors than decision makers and while the mutual interests generally align in terms of successfully prosecuting the war against the Imps, sometimes there are significant divergences.

Not murdering the actual Voidborn smugglers you took prisoner several months ago is one such decision. Breaker, the giant white-maned Auxl who serves as the overall leader of the organised rebel resistance, overruled the Liuetenant’s objections of maintaining camp security and instead, at the behest of many of the less vengefully-inclined rebel spokepeople, entered into direct negotiations with the smuggler bands and all kinds of handshake deals and payments of Void knows what to smuggle non-combatants out and, at a premium, anything that goes boom in. One which hasn’t been doing too well lately with the ironclad blockade. Another divergence is that many of the more clued-on rebel leaders aren’t missing how ultimately dire the League of Dis’ strategic position is… and that their ‘advisors’ are the typical sort that one would think are keen on going out in a blaze of glory with the liberated masses.

As more and more of the leftover Company platoons from outlying camps are rolled into this central location, your pre-council briefing has become more involved and incorporates officers and NCOs from those other platoons. Contingencies are now being discussed openly, rather than alluded to. While ostensibly the same rank at Lieutenant ‘Boy’ Blue, the hierarchy with him in overall command remains clear. Command identified him early as the pre-eminent officer with the most successful rebel cell and ear of the rebel leadership. And even you speak up at these briefings far more than you feel comfortable around that many officers, despite your NCO rank as the leading Company expert in jungle warfare your input is always sought after.

These days though, the question on everyone’s lips from Corporal to Liuetenant is “When are we getting off this Voiddamn rock?”
