Like most things, /v/ is basically at a war with advertisement. There is nothing more evil than someone trying to sell you something and after so many decades of slop, /v/ tries to stick to the fundamental rule that gameplay is most important.
So when people are just praising anime waifus and clearly incentivizing they bought the game for the women, this pisses /v/ off. It's a bad behavior, because the games might not live up in terms of gameplay.
/v/ does this schizo shit all the time, just look at Elden Ring and the people who regardless of the games quality, believe it needs to flop because they fundamentally disagree with Open World as a design.
/v/ does in fact reach the point of seething when games do well if they believe it will encourage copying of mechanics or designs they deem bad for the quality.
