its a compensatory measure to allow the nation to regain its fiscal equilibrium
its not meant to be a permanent thing, or at least ideally not
its meant to fix the present issues so we can go back to a state of growth, which we can only do if we repair the damage done to our economy first, which we can do by taxing wealth thats sitting around doing nothing
and then when we return to equilibrium
and start growing the economy again
we can reduce taxes again and allow the rich to make up for their losses
