Basically the mc is an early Enlightenment-era thinker and he's just so ahead of his time that he's attracted to and terrified of beautiful, intelligent women. And I have a whole family tree mapped out and the story is going to be told from the perspective of four total generations of Lucy men, spanning from the 18th century to reconstruction/the gilded age/turn of the century(?). And all the Lucy men are different, but all the women they fall in love with are the same, in a sense. In a way, they can't break the mother curse. But all the Lucy men are utterly romantic and utterly possessed by women. It's the one string thing them all together
