Ahmed bin Jassim Al Thani is a Qatari businessman and politician. He was a board member at Qatargas, today QatarEnergy LNG, one of the world's largest liquefied natural gas companies. He is the current Qatari Minister of Economy and Commerce. He has been a member of the administrative council of the Qatar Investment Authority. He’s also been economic advisor to the Amir, and a secretary general of the Supreme Council of Economic Affairs and Investment. He also attended the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting in 2015.

Ahmed bin Jassim Al Thani is a member of the Qatari royal family, the House of Thani. The Al-Thani bloodline claims descent from the Adnanite Banu Tamim tribe. The House of Thani came to the Qatari throne in 1847 under Sheikh Thani bin Mohammad. Later, his son Mohammed bin Thani’s throne was officially recognized by the British in 1868.
