Which brings you to the present…
“So you’ve been able to reach the end of that chapter in your life…” Chansu, your therapist, begins as she writes down a few notes. “And are on the cusp of a new one.”
You look down at your hand, palm open, as you recline on the sofa in her office. “It almost sounds weird to say this to me, but I don’t feel much trepidation in it. Like… I’m prepared for it.” You’d kept up your appointments with Chansu through this time, making slow but steady progress. You don’t really feel that jolt of flight or fight (mostly fight) response upon seeing puddles of silvery liquid much at all anymore. And even though you still really miss dad, you feel… hopeful, confident even, that he’s still out there doing his best, thriving and surviving, and it’s only a matter of time before he’s back home.
“You know, when we started, you’d slightly hesitate and think things like this over in your head a good deal more.” she remarks, unwrapping another lollipop with her free hand. “Even for the small things. But now? You are more open to engaging with them first. On your own terms, but still showing a bit more drive to be the one to confront it.”
Turning your head, you ask, “So… you think I’m like, cured of my worries or whatever?”
She giggles, crossing her legs and leaning back. “It’s never a matter of being ‘cured.’ The trauma one experiences doesn’t just vanish into thin air like… poof!~” Chansu splays her hands out for emphasis. “It’s that you’ve been able to internalize it and grow on top of it. The you that’s laying her now has been able to accept that those things happened, and still keep going forward, still living your life the way you want to without fears of them influencing the actions you take.” She twirls her pen between her fingers, then cheekily adds, “Like you’ve… as you’ve said before, ‘broken your limits’ on it.”
You chuckle at that. “Thank you.”
…And suddenly you sense a couple strangely familiar Ki signatures right outside the door to her office, right by the waiting Baragon. Prince Beelzebub and the weasel demon Kama. There’s a slight commotion, followed by them opening up the door. “Peppa there you are! Listen we gotta-!” Beelzebub stops for a moment, staring… not at you, but your therapist.
Who actually looks mildly annoyed. She even huffs, crossing her arms. “Ah-hem.”
“...Chansu what are you doing here?” he asks, bewildered, with the weasel demon similarly gawking at her.
“I am with a patient, your highness.” She stands up, then quickly pushes the pair out the door. “Whatever your business is with her or I, it can wait until we’re done.” She closes it before Beelzebub can even get a “But-!” out, Chansu shaking her head and sighing. “Ugh, royalty.”
You blink. What. What just happened?
