The biggest hurdle for Caroline to become playable isn't her old L2D, but having to rework the way the weekly tetris work so that she can be free of it and move around the base like the other operatives
Yogurt or any "new" character wouldn't be an option to simply replace her because if they unlock earlier, they would a literal spoiler for any new players, and if they unlock after a certain point in the story then you'd have to see how to deal with the possibility of a player unlocking Caroline before reaching that point in the story
