Mate SELECTION is a complex process; sure.

But the mechanics of natural selection are simple and inescapable. For instance; Say we have a group of 1000 women. 3 of them have the gene that "makes them attracted to men that other women are attracted to"... the other 997 of them like; Tall guys, strong guys, handsome guys, nice guys etc.

As the generations play on, all of the women will have children, but the women who have children with men.. who OTHER women are attracted to.... they will pass on their genes FAR FAR more aggressively. So in the next 2 generations, maybe those genes; (The "I'm attracted to guys that others are attracted to" genes) will be present in many many more kids.

Fast-forward 1000 generations, and now EVERY woman carries genes that originally belonged to just 3/1000. Simply because in each generation, their sons spread the genes much faster than just the 'tall' guys or just the 'nice' guys.
