I'm aware it's so popular partially because "they'll love me unlike those 3D whores!" but I still fucking hate it pretty much for the reasons you listed, inter-party dynamics are left by the wayside so they can suck you off more, very few of them work in bouncing off the player properly (Caster Artoria and Oberon are like one of the only times i've seen a gacha do this well and that's partly just because Nasu wrote Lostbelt 6 of FGO as a full VN) so it eventually leads to every single interaction feeling the same even with wildly divergent personalities.
I have to shout out Lorelei for referencing some of this and will admit that this is kind of inherent to gacha as a "collect the characters" system you're going to collect ones you like and would hope they like you back. This is why Mesmer Jr is based for not liking Vertin.
