See, this is a thing that I think was just gaming in general, before e-sports and other things became popular. They might not be MMOs, but I spent hundreds if not thousands of hours just "hanging out" in Star Wars JK2: Jedi Outcast and Academy for instance - people would just hang out, /sit with their characters and chill, maybe engaging in the occasional duel.
Same thing with Counter Strike 1.6 and Source, I have lots of good memories playing on servers that would have "alltalk" on all the time, even those still alive could hear the dead, and it wasn't used to exploit anything since everyone was mostly just hanging out and bullshitting wile casually playing the game.
I can play all these games right now, Counter Strike at least, and I won't be able to find anything similar at all.
