5 volumes into Akane-banashi and I do not at all see where the hype is coming from
>Keeps introducing new characters yet refuses to develop any of them. The ONLY character who's gone through any kind of arc thus far is Akane's homeroom teacher. Comparing how the rival characters are handled in this series vs Act Age is like night and day.
>Story is a by-numbers battle shonen in all but name. Overpowered prodigy MC seeks to avenge her father, and the plot is driven by her learning new moves (stories) with literal training arcs.
>Entire emotional hook is Akane's relationship with her father, yet we don't see him at all after the first chapter. And from what I've heard this does not change until WAY later on
The art and paneling is excellent so the artist is definitely doing his/her job, but the writer needs to lock in.
It's not bad but it's a textbook 6/10
