All the best war films are British and its not even close.
A Bridge Too Far, The Battle of Britain, The Cruel Sea, The Dambusters, The Longest Day, Overlord, Dunkirk (1958), In Which We Serve, Sink the Bismarck, the list just goes on and on.
All better than American slop. If you compare Greyhound to The Cruel Sea its frankly embarrassing how bad the Tom Hanks film is.
It is kind of weird Americans never watch overseas war film as far as I can tell on /tv/. The Cruel Sea doesn't even get mentioned in 100 top boat films or whatever, its the official film of the Royal Navy (joining without watching it would be a painful mistake shall we say).
