The different countries all have a bit of history but what's explored the most is the country's political state, and the little history brought up is to illustrate either how the current form of government came to be or whatever the political turmoil the country finds itself in.
The guild has history but really, all you have to remember is they exist to protect the people and cannot openly defy the government of the country/territory they find themselves in.
Religion is ubiquitous and its goddess, Aidios, is soft confirmed to exist via artifacts the goddess created and left an ancient supercivilization(s) in charge of. There is not a lot of insight into the church's history beyond helping legitimize governments and a secret sect of super warriors/having insane tech. The church is also the one in charge of keeping the aforementioned artifacts. Seems the world was divided in tribes and each country formed around a given artifact; rulers of any given country are mostly those who safeguarded their artifacts in ancient times.
Example of an artifact: a humanoid casualty controlling entity.
A lot of hermetic symbolism used, alchemical symbolism, hints at the goddess perhaps being a demiurge-esque figure, differing realities/spaces of existence confirmed to exist.
