When Joel Hodgson left MST3K, he wanted a woman to take over as the lead. He envisioned his character, Joel Robinson, being hit by a "sex change ray" and the role being taken over by Bridget Jones (Nuveena, Woman of the Future; Mr. B Natural). Instead he was replaced with Mike Nelson, and Mike married Bridget, making her Bridget Nelson.

I appreciate both Joel and Mike episodes.

Joel didn't mind Mike taking over as the host of MST3K, his only complaint was that it was another "schlubby midwestern white guy". Joel wanted a sex-ray to hit his character and transform him into a woman, played by Bridget Nelson (Mike's wife, who also portrayed the effeminate Mr. B Natural and Nuveena, Woman of the Future)
