When did people decide they don't want strong competent characters in their stories? Weather they be male or female people seem to expect their characters to be punching bags for the world or else they are not "deep." On an unrelated note it's sad that there are people out there giving out writing advice when their only credentials is writing fan fiction so much so that "ships" and "marry sues" are slowly becoming general writing terms and not just fan fic jargon.
