Unfortunately it's unlikely to change any time soon, the gacha cycle fits perfectly into modern day consumer mentality. The average gachafag rolls for the new banner character who gets shilled with five cinematic trailers beforehand, then as soon as their banner ends its time to get excited and roll for the next new banner character. Rinse and repeat until EOS and by that time you'll have a ridiculously bloated character cast some of whom will probably be left to collect dust on shelves for years. I really wish shameless monetization strats like gacha weren't so successful.

Gacha MC's are so fucking weird man. Logically speaking they're supporting characters because they're never the ones pulling any weight. (All the big moments have to go to the rollable characters the devs want to sell to you.) But they're also supposed to be self insert bait so players want them to have major roles/not need help from rollable characters. How do you even balance these contradicting things?
