Not so fun adventures...found a snake in the coop yesterday morning and killed it, only to have one of my 3 pet hens die of heat stroke that afternoon before her first birthday, my first chicken loss. I was putting ice cubes in their water around noon each day and got a small solar-powered fan to give them more air when they rest in the shade under the coop, but it wasn't enough. I'm sorry Daisy, rest in peace. Going forward my plan will be to alternate frozen water bottles in their waterer on days where the high is in the 80s, and 90+ they come inside to the small basement coop I set up this morning.
