“Are we breaking in violently, then? Going loud?” Gizamon’s tamer asks.
“We can’t.” Replies Elecmon girl.
“Why not?”
“Because they’re going to have a strike team ready after the last time, and the jamming trick won’t work a second time. They’ll have implemented deadman switches or something. Right, Wind?”
“Yeah. Very good, Liza.”
She beams at being complimented.
“Like she said,” he continues without a beat, “there are measures to counter the method we used last time. Look at this.”
He plays a video of several Pteramon and a Cargodramon descending on a processing center. They form a cordon from the air, then send down several Commandramon on ropes. Accompanying them is a hulk of a Digimon you’ve never seen before, with a red helmet and riot shield. It looks like a stronger version of the reptilian Rookies.
“What are they responding to?” You ask.
“Nothing. This was a false alarm. It’s just good luck that one of our scouts caught this footage.”
You watch as a bot exits the partition and communes with the squad. After handing a portion of metadata over to the leader, the alarm is lifted, and they swiftly depart.
“They’re fast. A fight will be guaranteed while exiting. Who knows what kind of state we’ll be in while we’re leaving the partition? So with that in mind, we’ve been forced to use an alternate solution.”
Squid hijacks the display at Wind’s signal, pulling up a network path.
“Thanks to some trusty intel, we have a way of going in and out unseen.”
“Wow.”
“Really?”
“How?”
“We’re going to go through the Network.”
Her announcement causes the room to fall into silence.
“Uh, Squid? I thought humans weren’t able to go in there. Are we just sending our Digimon through?” Asks Otamamon’s partner.
“Apparently not! I’ve looked into it and procured the necessary tools. As long as we don’t stray off the designated path, and get to our destination in time, we won’t be in too much danger.”
She begins explaining how it works. Apart from Wind, you’re the only person who’s not surprised by what she’s describing.
