Now that I'm thinking about the whole memory thing though, how does everyone forgetting Takeru in the BETA world work, exactly? Yuuko mentioned that they'd be studying his recorded conversation with the BETA during the mission, so is it just a recording of a soldier they don't remember ever existing who was for some reason assigned to the most important piloting position to ever exist? There are a lot of details like that which stop making sense when you can't recall a person's mere existence.
