I don't think Mari set out with a goal to "build an audience to use as a stepping stone to get into a corpo", you just kind of get presented this opportunity that's really big for you and you take it and you underestimate just how much it will change you. From the new environment to the new co-workers to having a boss now and having to coordinate with both of those in order to help create special events and sell merch and fulfill sponsorships and you have this whole new audience that you're unfamiliar with who already has its own culture built up over the course of years, it's a lot. Fucking, Sleepy almost deleted her entire VOD archive when she joined Phase because she was scared that it wouldn't meet the standards of her new workplace.
