nuke “conspiracy” stuff aside, don’t forget the japanese were FIERCE fighters in WW2 even with a technological handicap compared to US gear and ‘modern’ training at the time. americans were struggling to get the fuckers off the little islands and werent really in main land japan yet. kamikaze tactics mindbroke US men on the ground. how can you defeat an enemy so willing to die for their cause? their home land? same with vietnam, middle aged rice farmers could do nothing else except dig in and die for their land and that simple fact was very difficult for the typical soldier to process while being sent out on missions every day.
