You know what I just realised about BFA that kinda bothers me a lot more now?
The rewrite to have Alliance take credit for the Uldir raid purely just to set up Brann introducing Magni to Mother, DESPITE how they could've easily just suggested Brann had a look around the facility after the Horde had already cleared it, making it much safer to do so.
That rewrite by itself in a bubble is whatever, but I look back on it in hindsight with everything else that happened with that faction war for the first half of BFA, and the entire thing now basically just exists to set up the Zandalari as this major faction that just gets bullied by everyone.
Talanji goes and seeks the Horde for help, gets captured by the Alliance. Horde spring her free and go do that whole campaign, Rokhan being the only major Horde player being a help. Everything is set up to establish the Blood Trolls numbers getting out of hand, a big invasion of the empire, Zul going all in on G'huun and basically Uldir being opened up to free him soon.
All the motivation in the world for the Horde/Zanadalar to go in and stop that... But now the rewrite says the Alliance did it for no reason besides ONE of their soldiers got a little too into her infiltration objective and got brainwashed. Cause they knew pretty much fuck all beyond that.
So by the Zandalari's perspective... These pricks that captured and imprisoned their Princess, that their new allies came requesting aid in their war against... They just saved their Empire.
And then the next minute, boom, Alliance assault their capital next and kill their King.
And then the next minute yet again, the Warchief that they just agreed to a an allegiance with to join the Horde backstabs all of them and fucks off.
Like, how fucking punished can a major faction of an expansion be for no reason.
By a writing standpoint, what the hell are they really supposed to think in this scenario when they simultaneously get saved and destroyed in a short timespan?
