Everquest has been kinda poisoned by the modern mmo design too

Normally, EQ bosses are pretty simple, but they are meant to have hard spawn conditions and the fight itself is the test of your gear and ability use against them rather than some dancing around. WoW use to be like this, too, but they quickly changed as well once we got to Cataclysm (fuck Dragon Soul).
If they make a new FF mmo, I hope they return to the 11 design and modernize it with better graphics. There's a lot of good shit there. And I think most gamers are hungry for an experience that doesn't treat you like an idiot or kid in a carnival.
