Ehhh. I don't think any of us can judge a man for being cringe. We get off on people turning into statues. I think that sort of 'powerful villain hunting people for his trophy collection, cruelly monologuing as he transforms them' persona fits this sort of thing well. I mean it's a very over-the-top and objectifying fate, and an over-the-top and objectifying villain just hammers it home.
