The pre-rendered animations and combat animations in ZZZ are better, but I think it's lagging behind in pretty much every other aspect when compared to HSR, and especially Genshin when it comes to NPC animations.
What I mean by this is that when you talk to NPCs in Genshin or HSR, they do actually have some generic animations like shaking their head, crossing their arms or so on, even when dialog is not voiced. And when new characters enter the scene, they walk in.
Meanwhile in ZZZ if scene is not voiced, characters just do their idle animation until there's a black screen which changes their pose, or makes new character enter the scene. This was excusable when much of the story happened in TV Mode, but now that it's pretty much gone, it feels incredibly jarring.
What makes this even more weird is that NPC animations are in the game. In the voiced dialog segments characters with different models do lots of similar animations, why can't they use those in unvoiced dialog too? The characters are actually very expressive in these voiced segments!
...I dunno, nobody else seems to mention this at all, so maybe I'm just weird.
