“Okay. You’ve got the capital of Imptown all mapped out here. Unit designations and outlying buildings all there.” You decide to leave the ‘why’ of it for just a bit later. “But that the fresh recruits are from Savisholme? Previous Legion deployments on the Federation border? You don’t pick that up from some good observation. Where are you getting this intel, Hail? Have you got someone on the inside?”
Hail takes a long time in answering, long enough to come up with a lie and then decide whether or not to use it. But instead the man sighs, looking his age for a moment.
“I want you to trust me on this, Nat. I really mean that. You’ll soon realise how badly we need you to be on board with this for it to work. But if I go answering questions like that, questions that might get people that I owe killed, how can you trust me going forward?”
===============================
>“Okay, I can respect that. I’m still not sold on whatever this is, but you’ve got my attention. Now what in the void does your Main Base Alpha intel have to do with messing with my bot?” Hail’s refusal to divulge his sources, even when he clearly wants you onside, is actually a point in his favour. Looks like the man has I code beyond racking up the highest possible slaver kill count. [Daredevil]
>“You’ve got to give me something, Hail. If you can’t tell me about this intel, you’ve at least got to tell me -why- you’re willing to trust it enough to plan on.” Truth is, you respect Hail’s reluctance to share anymore details concerning the origin of his intel. You want to be able to satisfy -yourself- that the intel is good, not just Hail’s trust in it. But if you can’t get that out of him it’s not necessarily enough to make you walk away from whatever this is here and now. [Firebrand]
>“What’s that Fallen Earth saying, ‘trust but verify’? This is a dealbreaker, Hail. I’m not even going to entertain whatever the rest of your spiel is until you level with me on the source of the intel.” Your people have acted on shaky or need-to-know intel many a time, but you didn’t have a choice on the Company missions. Here you do, and you’re not going any farther with this until you know all the details. And maybe it's something the LT can leverage. [Xenophobe]
