No, don't get your protein BEFORE the dinner, that's a beginner fatty cope. You actually don't even need that much protein so you'll be better off just picking the healthiest stuff from what's available, and don't think too much about food.
The single most important thing you can do during these dinners is not drink calories. Drink just water, not beer and cocktails and other crap. Just eat the food which is generally good enough, and drink water instead of empty calories.
And have sex with the date after.
That's about the best scenario
