So comforted, you send off your thoughts to Ansàrra again, as your foot touches the sandy shore.
And you step into utter winter.
“Ah—” you gasp, and then nothing else.
What.
What is going on…
You were amidst Her embrace just a moment ago.
You—
In a mounting panic, your stomach coiling in pierced fear, you reach out again, past your senses, past your inner world, reaching out to where you know Ansàrra is waiting for you.
Where She has always waited.
And find only empty black night.
You stumble.
Still holding onto your cameo, you fall — your arm uselessly in front of you — you hit the sparkling white sand. It is warm, warmed by Her sun, but your soul is cold, chilled, lost, amidst the empty spaces of nothingness.
You call, and nobody answers.
No.
You try again—
It’s like sending off flares in the middle of a black ocean.
Like the emptiness is sucking you dry.
No answer.
And for the first time since Master found you, you know that you are alone.
That is moment when it snaps, at last.
The caged animal inside your throat scrapes its escape.
And you scream, scream, scream, at the empty heavens.
>You have lost the ability to ask for Sanctions.
You turn back and immediately try to board the ship. Perhaps this is just… a quirk of your landing. You must make sure.
You call out to the Priests of Flame. What is going on? They must know… if you can’t anymore. There must be a reason for this. There must be.
You shout for the others, you scream, you plead. This is… this is not what you expected. You bend and crack; you just want to be held again…

One thing I have learned from working on the Quest over the past few months is to never try and set the story towards specific goals (so-called railroading), but at the same time, I did have in mind a few passages I would have liked to go through, since the very first thread. This is one of them. I also wonder if there’s a feeling for when you spent the last six thread building up a house of cards… and what comes after. Thanks for playing!
