The obvious direction the story will go is that the Abyss Order are correct, and humans are abyss/darkness/matter aligned beings, unwittingly marked as servants and surrendering their fate to the foreign Light/high Gods by accepting their mark (Visions). Remember that the Order is lead by Apostles and Heralds, and speak of sharing the Truth and the "words of joy" (the evangelion)
