>Haven't seen many lancet strikes lately. I wonder if it's a production issue or if the fiber optic FPVs are doing the same job for cheaper?
Well, there has been a shift.
There are more than 10x as many FPV drone strikes today as in 2022.
The quadcopter version is many times cheaper than Lancet, not to mention smaller (you can deliver more to the front with fewer deliveries).
So the Lancets have become more of an autonomous long range system with AI guidance (remember that they pioneered it in this war).
But what are the systema made for?
Lancet is made primarily for anti armor and vehicle attacks, like counter artillery radars (remember those?), tanks (member when Ukranda had those?) and so on.
Now that such targets have all but disappeared, it's open hunting season on pickups, trench positions and soldiers on foot for the FPV crews.
As in, there aren't enough targets that the Lancets are most suitable for.
So we will primarily see FPVs.
