Elon Musk has made at least 12 specific predictions since 2013 for Tesla achieving full self-driving (Level 5 autonomy) by certain dates, all of which passed without success. These include:2013: 90% autonomy by 2016 (not achieved).
2015: Full autonomy by 2018 (Level 2).
2016: Coast-to-coast drive by 2017 (not done).
2017: Full autonomy by late 2017 (missed).
2018: Full autonomy by 2019 (Level 2).
2019: Robotaxis by 2020 (not achieved).
2020: Full autonomy in 2020 (Level 2).
2021: Full autonomy in 2021 (Level 2).
2022: Full autonomy in 2022 (Level 2).
2023: Full autonomy in 2023 (Level 2).
2024: Millions autonomous by 2025 (not yet).
2025: Factory-to-home drive by June 2025 (missed).

As of July 2025, Tesla’s Full Self-Driving remains Level 2, requiring human supervision.
