Thinking about how I fucking hate multiverse writing, it's pretty rancid that about every time it winds up centering around some big popular event from the franchise as the only thing that ever mattered. Out of all of gundam, the only thing that was ever really important in any meaningful way, is that char and lalah had a thing for like 6 months and then she died.
Amuro didn't even seem to think it was that major of a deal, he moved on with his life. This was just char's hangup.
Holy shit imagine that char shouting "she could've been a mother to me!" was actually an assessment of the most important event in the multiverse by the most important man in the multiverse. This mothercon's feelings were so powerful they affected time and space itself.
